January

Medibank International Sydney (tennis) Jan 09-Jan 15, 2011: one of the oldest tennis tournaments in the world takes place at Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Center. World grand slam champion Kim Clijsters and Juan Martin del Potro is due to appear. Ground pass, which was popular last year, will continue this year and costs the same at 9.90. Children's day will be held on Monday 10 January, where all children under 16 years of age will be given free access to the grounds and on-site activities

February

Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras 19 feb-5 Mar: Running for three weeks the Sydney Mardi Gras consists of fun-filled events including art, literature, parties and exhibitions, all culminating in a flamboyant Parade on March 5. The parade is always a big attraction with colorful floats, exotic dancer and a multitude of Drag Queens, meandering through the city centre.

March

St Patrick's Day Parade taking place close to March 17, officially St Patrick's Day, The Sydney Parade scheduled for Sunday, March 20th 2011. Floats, dancing girls and Irish bands feature in the parade, which usually begins noon

April

Sydney Royal Easter Show: 14-27 april: attracting approximately 900 000 visitors each year, the Sydney Royal Easter show is an experience for the whole family. Almost 15,000 competitors appear different breeds and cattle as they strive to achieve the prestigious Sydney Royal Blue Ribbon. Also includes demonstrations of rural areas for visitors from the sheep shearing to working dog shows.

Mercedes Australian Fashion Week. DatesTBA Showcasing Spring/Summer collections, this is an industry-only event, access to the media, industry experts, buyers and sellers.

June

Sydney film festival: Held for 14 days in June, 2011 date yet. The Festival is a showcase for an ever-growing number of Austrlian short films and new films from around the world. This Festival is also host to a number of awards including the Dendy Awards.

August

City2Surf run, August 14, 2011: The Sun-Herald City2Surf recognised as Australia's premier race attract top athletes from over Australia and indeed the world. The popularity of this event has ballooned in recent years and now attracts over 60 000 participants.

September

Festival of the winds, 11 sept 2011: local and international kite-Maker will transform airspace above Bondi Beach for this festival, with kites of all shape, size and color. This family event also includes music, art, face-painting, puppeteers, and lots more.

October

Manly Jazz International Festival early October (TBA) takes place in the Sydney suburb of Manly each year. Festival of live performances from Australian feaures, international and student jazz band.

November

Sculpture by The Sea: date not yet announced for the 15th annual Sculpture by the Sea festival. This artistic spectacle see Bondi to Tamarama walk is transformed into a sculpture park, with over 100 magnificent displays of Australian and international artists.

December

Sydney Harbour, new year's Eve Fireworks, dec 31, 2011: the most watched fireworks display in the world takes place over Sydney Harbour, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, centering. There are two programs that make up this spectacular events: 9 pm family fireworks and Midnight Fireworks show.
