Must see places in Ireland: Newgrange and Knowth

We came to live in Ireland for more than five years ago, reinvent our lives completely by moving from Ireland to the United States. We delight in the historical views in Ireland, but no more so than Newgrange and Knowth. These two MEGALITHIC tombs predate stones at Stonehenge in 2000 years, making them one of the oldest places that opened to the public in the world. While not exactly a day trip out of Kinsale, as most of the "must see places in Ireland", we write about these articles, most of our visitors to Kinsale apartment travelled to Dublin. We strongly recommend that someone close to Dublin to take an extra day to see Newgrange and Knowth they rate highest on our list of places to go in Ireland and everyone should see them when you travel in Ireland

A relatively simple device from Dublin if driving on the motorway M1. North and then the second exit after the toll. Signs will say and Bru na Boinne Donore (which is also the name of the visitor center where you will leave for graves). Go to the village Donore and follow the signs for Newgrange, the visitor center is 2 km past the village on the right side. You park in the parking lot and then go to the visitor centre, where you will be able to get tickets according to the times the buses leave. No one is allowed to directly to Web sites, and we have found this particular well-managed way to preserve both the ancient sites and understanding of their neighbours. Bus Eireann also operate a bus service between the visitor center and Droheda, which allows you to capture the other coaches in Dublin City Centre.

Was 5000 years ago, circa 3102-2900 BC, Newgrange MEGALITHIC passage tomb whose inside roof has never fallen into the 5000 years of its history. The outside has been reconstructed into the best guess of archaeologists, decide what they thought it looked from the remains of the cliffs on the spot before the reconstruction. The crossing and the House are illuminated by the sun rose at the winter solstice, and every year there is a lottery for visitors who might come back to see it once a year event. 100 seats are assigned, but human beings must have a high tolerance for claustrophobia that the Interior of the tomb is very small.

Knowth is in many ways more spectacular for carvings on so many of the outer blocks, and the ability to go up on the tomb and imagine what it was like when people lived there. Probably made at about the same time as Newgrange, Knowth two paragraphs with entrances on opposing sides. Also a world heritage, when seen together the two tombs that leaves visitors with the understanding that ' primitive ' world was not so primitive. For all who are born and reared in the United States, as we were, it is a rare treat to stand in the place where the graffiti on the wall over almost everything you ever saw in your own country.
